End the ICE Age: Butterflies of Remembrance — Mountain View

This **Día de los Muertos**, join us in downtown Mountain View to honor and remember the lives taken by ICE and Border Patrol, and to demand an end to the violence. We’ll gather to create a **public memorial in chalk**. Imagine a sidewalk filled with names, like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but instead of stars, we’ll draw simple butterflies -- **a symbol of migration** -- each bearing the name of someone who died in ICE custody or was killed by ICE or Border Patrol agents. Everyone is welcome to help draw, write, hold the supplies, or provide encouragement. No artistic experience is needed. This action is part of **End the ICE Age**, a national day of action happening in cities across the country October 31–November 2. We're demanding that Congress get ICE out of our communities, redirect ICE funding, and shut down ICE detention centers for good. **A commitment to nonviolence:** A core principle behind all Disappeared In America events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
