About
Early voting is crucial in the 2026 midterm elections to protect our democracy. We need to get our votes in early so nothing-neither the flu nor anti-democratic shenanigans-can prevent us from voting! What scares you about the potential election results? Share your fears in sign messaging and costumes. Let’s have fun during this spooky season and frightening time in our country. Costumes are optional, but here are some ideas: COSTUME/DRAWING/PROP: grim reaper and scythe MESSAGE: Slashing (healthcare/SNAP/environmental protections) is terrifying! Hurry to the polls!! VOTE EARLY!! COSTUME/DRAWING/PROP: Grotesque pumpkins MESSAGE: Small/swing state/Wisconsin margins are scary! COSTUME/DRAWING/PROP: Skeletons MESSAGE: Healthcare cuts chill me to the bone! COSTUME/DRAWING/PROP: Dracula MESSAGE: Grocery prices/gas prices vant to suck my paycheck. COSTUME/DRAWING/PROP: Bats MESSAGE: election deniers are batty! Need more ideas? Think about what pains you right now and what scares you about the future. Look up your ballot (https://myvote.wi.gov/) and check out the platforms. What’s the worst that could happen if we don’t show up and Tom Tiffany becomes governor? Look up and down the ballot. Review the referendums. How would the unfavorable outcomes change our lives in Wisconsin? Join us near early voting polling place Pinney Library October 24 any time between 9:30 and noon to get the attention of passersby and drive traffic to the polls. We will line Cottage Grove Road with signs and enthusiasm and strongly welcome families to show up with us! Stop by for 15 minutes, an hour, or stay for the whole time! We’ll provide: Sidewalk chalk, bubbles (and rumor has it–candy!) Posters with one blank side and the other with a fill-in-the-blank message, “I’m voting early for ______.” Sharpies, duct tape Feel free to bring: Noisemakers, water bottles, snacks, sticks to tape to posters Scary costumes, images (see ideas for messaging) Did you know? Less than 1% of Wisconsin voters made the difference in re-electing the current president. He won by 29,417 votes. Dane County Democracy Tour Indivisible Madison East is one of many Indivisible chapters and other progressive organizations in Dane County reaching out to our communities October 24 taking action with the Dane County Democracy Tour. Collectively, we will take actions to encourage our neighbors to vote early and canvass for candidates that will fight for the people.
