About
JOIN THE MARCH! NAACP Gastonia Branch #5394-B has invited Indivisible Gaston to their Sunday, October 25, Stroll the Souls to the Polls march and vote event. Please invite your friends! NAACP hopes for a large group of marchers and strong voter turnout to oppose the State Auditor's office encouraging county election boards to cut Sunday early voting hours for the 2026 election. The Gaston County Board of Elections cut early voting Sundays from 2 to just 1. This change restricts "Souls to the Polls" events organized by Black churches and also impacts young voters. Whether you have already voted or not, please come make your voice heard! (See below). Event Schedule 1:00 pm - Assemble at St. Stephens AME Zion Church, 201 W Franklin Blvd, Gastonia 1:30 pm - March to Board of Elections (BOE) to Vote and/or Demonstrate Roads will be closed to support the march!!! Time TBD - Walk back to St. Stephens (after everyone has voted) Two choices upon arrival at Board of Elections (BOE) (1) Vote if you haven't already cast a ballot (2) Demonstrate across from BOE while others cast their ballots Please make sure all signs are non-partisan (NO reference to any candidates or any elected officials). Signs that urge people to vote are ideal. "Fed Up? Vote!" "Vote Today" “Your Vote Is Your Voice”, “Power to the People”, "Anger to Action! Vote!”, “Protect Your Vote”, "Honk & Vote", etc. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*
